Vivian and Miller

While shooting Cathi and Greg's wedding, one of Cathi's bridesmaids - Elizabeth - came up to me and told me she wanted to get some pictures of her daughter before her baby teeth fell out. I don't think a week went by that Elizabeth called me to tell me one of Vivian's front teeth were loose! We quickly scheduled a shoot and were able to get it done before any teeth fell out.

Elizabeth also brought along her 3 year old son - Miller - so of course we got some shots of him as well.

Here's Vivian - "Vivi" for short, except Miller can't quite say it...he calls her "Diddy". Love it.

And here's Miller.

I love this one of Miller sneaking a look at the camera.

I absolutely adore this.

By the end of the shoot I think they were both a little delirious from the sun - they started charging the camera.

A Facelift for Davidson

Many mornings did I spend in the conference room of the Residence Life Office at Davidson College during the almost two years that I worked there. Basically, it was an eye sore. Tacky fake flowers randomly placed on a side table against drab, gray walls - that was as much decoration as it got. Sick.

The staff decided it was time to give the room a facelift. Not only did they ditch the nasty flowers, but they made plans to hang some art work against the gray walls (Jesus, please put it on their hearts to paint...preferably in a Cheyenne Schultz Photography shade of green).

This is where I came in. They sent me out with my camera to capture places/things around campus, which was quite fun except for the fact that I thought I was going to have a heat stroke. And here's what I came up with.

Here's the storyboard I designed that will be the focal point of the room.

Jessica and Steve: Engaged!

I know I say this a lot about many weddings, but we are REALLY excited to shoot Jessica and Steve's wedding this November. Geoff and I first met these two over coffee at Starbucks a couple of months ago - as soon as we got in the car to head home from our meeting, I looked at Geoff and told him how much I hoped they would book with us. Sure enough, we got an email a shortly thereafter with the good news. :)

Not only am I excited to shoot their wedding, but I'm looking forward to working with wedding planner Alyse Woodward of A Perfect Engagement. We met last February and since then, I've been waiting to have the chance to shoot a wedding that she has helped to plan.

For their engagement session we started out at the Mint Museum of Art and then ended at a park uptown. They were a little nervous when we started, but by the end of the session seemed to be pretty used to the camera. All of our wedding day packages include a complimentary engagement session for this reason. Most people seem to feel uncomfortable in front of the camera at first - we'd much rather have them get over this feeling during the engagement session rather than the wedding day. It's also a great opportunity for Geoff and I to get to know the couple beforehand too - then the bride and groom don't feel like they have strangers invading on them on one of the most important days of their lives.

But seriously - I think they rocked it out. Don't they look great?! Jessica is a natural at working the sassy look, right?

See you soon, guys! :)

Lori's Bridals

Yesterday Geoff and I drove up to Black Mountain, NC for Lori and Tom's wedding - it was SO pretty up there....we are going to make plans to go back up sometime for a weekend away (hopefully soon!). Wedding pictures to come soon. :)

I was especially looking forward to shooting Lori's portraits after she told me where she'd like to do them - the Winghaven Gardens here in Charlotte, which is where Geoff proposed to me. He and I hadn't been back there since that day, so I couldn't wait!

A couple minutes into the shoot, I stopped and asked her if she had ever modeled before, to which she replied no. This was SO hard for me to believe because she knew how to WORK the camera. Seriously, this girl was a total natural - I barely had to direct her at all...she just kept hitting these awesome poses - I was really blown away.

This is the one she chose for her portrait to hang at the reception. Love it.
