Big News.....and, we need your help!

Big news to share today!

So, here's the deal. When our business was first born in Spring 2007 - to be real - as passionate and as excited as we were to start things up, we didn't have a clue what we were doing. Under the name "Cheyenne Schultz Photography", we began to brand our business starting with the generic blogger template - it all began with THIS BLOG POST, where my only commenters were from my mom and dad. :)

With some randomly chosen colors, we threw together a sad little logo and smacked it on a business card. And if you could see my "portfolio", which consisted of a $25 picture album from Michael's craft store and some lose prints stuck inside, you would laugh your tail off.

But hey - we all gotta start somewhere, right? :)

Through the past two years, we've managed to get our brand to a decent place with an intentional logo, a professional website, and some pretty sweet sample wedding albums. However, we've now outgrown that "decent" brand and are ready to move on to something bigger and much better.

Back in 2007, Geoff's role was primarily as a supporter to me as I brought my new found passion to life. Starting out, he came with me to a all of my booked portrait sessions (get this - he second shot with our point and shoot camera...ah, humble beginnings) mostly because I was afraid to go alone. And while we never intended for it to play out this way, through the past two years, it has become just as much HIS business as it has been mine.

All of this to say, the time has come that we rebrand our business.....as a husband and wife team. :)

Last week our designer - Erica Anne - led us (and five of our friends) through a brainstorming session to begin the rebrand process. One of our first goals is to choose our name - out of our session came the three options listed below.

Here's where we could use your help - because we can't decide, we'd like to know what some of YOU think! Please leave a comment below to "vote" for your favorite new business name (the word "photography" may or may not be used - we're not sure yet). Many thanks!!!

***EDIT*** quite a few people have suggested "Schultz Photography" - we definitely had considered it, but in the end, decided it is a little too formal for the direction we're headed. Thanks everyone for your comments! :)

Although completely unrelated to the content of this post - just for kicks - here's a little video Geoff shot (with the video feature on the 5D Mark II) and edited from our "dress up like a cow, get free chicken" day at Chick-fil-A last Friday evening with one of my favorite families - The Hubatka's. Enjoy!

Holly and Drew - Married - Part Two

As promised, here is part two of Holly and Drew's wedding day - enjoy!

After their first dance, we snuck out of the reception for a good 30 minutes of shooting just Holly and Drew around the property.

This is the view from one of the barn windows.

I love this....

...and this...

This shot belongs on a big fat canvas wrap.

Had to get a shot of Holly with her Sigma Kappa sorority sisters. :)

Congratulations Holly and Drew! Love you guys! :)

Holly and Drew - Married - Part One

Gorgeous bride. Beautiful venue. Super nice people. Great weather. Outside Ceremony. Plenty of time for pictures. Colorful details.

These are just a FEW of the factors that contributed to making Holly and Drew's wedding one of our favorite ever weddings.

Holly and Drew were married on June 6th in Dublin, Virginia at the Rockwood Manor. And let me tell you something - shooting on the property of the Rockwood Manor was a dream...from the huge trees to the cool old barn to the unique details inside the B&B....it was amazing.

There are way too many photos that I love - so I'm forced to devote two days to blogging the wedding. You don't mind, do you? :)

Holly's niece is pretty much one of the cutest kids on the planet.

Love this of Drew with his mom.

Geoff ROCKED the guys portraits....like whoa.

A favorite. Of all time. (Told you the old barn was cool)

Think I took enough shots of her flowers?

Seriously.....SERIOUSLY...I about lose my breath when I look at this photo. Holly - you look INCREDIBLE.

This is Holly's sweet uncle Bobby.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for part two!

Megan and Patrick - Engaged

Man-oh-MAN was it toasty the evening of Megan and Patrick's engagement session. Like, really, REALLY hot - within the first few minutes, the four of us were sweltering. Even so, Megan and Patrick did not disappoint - they definitely BROUGHT IT.

We began our session on campus at NC state in and around the infamous "Free Expression Tunnel". After a quick outfit change, we raced to downtown Raleigh and just barely beat the light for some shots at City Market. By the end of the shoot we were PARCHED - we saw no other option but to drag ourselves into a restaurant to share some drinks and conversation. Love these two and can't wait for Megan's bridal portrait at the end of this month and their wedding in September!

good-NESS....are these two pretty, or what?!

I love this one WAY too much - it's going to have to go on the website....no doubt.

How cute is her dress?!

LeeAnn and Miguel - Married - Bentley's on 27

When LeeAnn first contacted me, it was just for an engagement session, as her and her fiance Miguel were planning to get married in Florida where they were living. By the time our session rolled around, they had moved to Charlotte and had just picked a date to get married here. We were thrilled when she asked us to shoot her wedding. :)

A couple days before her wedding, LeeAnn had emailed me some final details and made mention that the day was going to be stress-free. While I admired her positivity, a wedding day is rarely stress-free. However, as soon as I got to the hair salon, I believed her 100%. And she was right - the day....the whole day of the wedding....was in fact, stress-free. It was probably the least amount of stress I've ever experienced on a wedding day.

Miguel and his groomsmen are in the military - so an "at attention" shot was only appropriate. :)

Guess who did the fabulous hair and makeup? Yup - it was Kymm. :) (Who's the Fairest)

LOVE these colors! Flowers by Emma's Royal Flowers

The ceremony was held at St. Matthews Catholic Church

LeeAnn and Miguel's one request was that we stop off on our way to the reception to grab a couple shots with their little dog Sammy Joe.

Impromptu Trash the Dress session! We were all CRACKING up at Sammy Joe attacking LeeAnn's dress.

It was a big breath of fresh air to have the time we needed to shoot the bridal party and LeeAnn/Miguel. Most weddings, we have literally minutes to do these photos (enter stress)....but on this day, we had more than we needed to get the shots we wanted uptown.

The reception was held at the ultra-chic Bentley's on 27 in uptown Charlotte.

Awesome cake by Edible Art.

We were so excited to have Bethany from All the Right Grooves there to DJ.

Congratulations LeeAnn and Miguel!
