Unscripted

I've been known to be a bit of an emotional person. An avid crier at times. It's true.

It really was no surprise to Geoff two nights ago at Starbucks when I looked up at him from behind my laptop screen with tears in my eyes. He's seen me cry more times than I know to say.....although I don't know he's seen me cry from editing a wedding. From time to time he's caught me while shooting a wedding, but never editing. I just couldn't help myself. Not this time.

My stomach dropped when I came across this image that Geoff captured immediately following Ashley and Jason's recessional from their ceremony. You can't say that it's compositionally perfect or that it stands out as particularly original from other wedding day images that we, or others, have shot. But the sheer fact that it was a completely and totally raw account of what they were feeling in that moment...unscripted by us.....that gets me. It inspires me. I FEEL something from it.

Don't get me wrong - I'm all about having fun with some creative posing with our brides and grooms...but if you ask me - this image creates so much greater of a feeling than something contrived.

Be sure to check back on Monday to see a lot more of Ashley and Jason's Charleston wedding - I'm pretty excited about it. :)

i can't even express how this hits home with me. Moments of pure authenticy just choke me up. That kind of passionate, joyful love just inspires me to go kiss my man with that kind of joy. :) you know?

Thanks for sharing. You make me tear up with your artistic shots more than you know! Praise God for the gifts He gives his people.

I don't remember the last time one of your wedding posts DIDN'T make me tear up. Not only from the emotion that you catch but because I know how happy you are going to make that couple! I miss y'all!

I think Cheyenne gets a little more than teary eyed at ceremonies... but I think it's cute either way :)
