Recently Geoff and I had a consult with a couple getting married in 2010. The bride asked me if there are any particular weddings that stand out that I really liked. Immediately, Kristy and Russ came to mind. It wasn't because of how beautiful her dress was. It wasn't because of the color palette and the reception details that I always love to shoot. It wasn't because we got to shoot at an amazing church and even more amazing reception venue. And it wasn't because of how dang PRETTY these two are.
The reason Kristy and Russ came to mind is because of how dear these two have become to us. Through the engagement & bridal sessions, the facebook messages & emails, the pasta dinner they made for us.....they have become friends. Toward the end of the reception they were dancing together and laughing....they didn't have a care in the world. This is going to sound terribly cheesy, but whatever - It just made me feel really, truly good inside...just really really happy for them......watching them together in this moment just reminded me that there IS good in this world.
My heart is broken that they will be moving this summer to Connecticut for Russ to begin school at Yale. Dang you, Russ...why you gotta be so smart?! :)
Kristy makes the best faces - this one's going on the website for sure. :)
See that hand? That's JB - she ROCKED Kristy's hair. She's out of Charlotte - (704) 421-8986
LOVE this shot....(captured by the fabulous Geoff, of course)
Props to Kristy for her wedding day gift to Russ - engraved cufflinks with her beautiful pictures inside. :)
My jaw is on the ground over this one. Sweet goodness!!! There aren't words for your beauty. None.
Geoff ROCKED THESE OUT. Seriously, in looking through the proofs, I have like TEN favorites of Russ by himself.
So I was a little obsessed with the flowers...excellent work by Beverly's of Midway out of Winston-Salem.
The ceremony was at the very dramatic and ultra beautiful Centenary United Methodist Church in Winson-Salem.
Oh goodness.....this gets me good.
I love this - Geoff and I had gotten in our car and pulled up to the front of the church to ask Kristy and Russ a question. After we said "I'll see you there", they thought we had driven off....I happened to have my camera on my lap and began to shoot as Russ did this little dance unsuspectingly.
The reception was at the incredible Graylyn. Wow! What an awesome location. We drove up and Geoff shouted to me like a little boy, "it looks like a castle!". We stayed there the night before and were really pleased with the accommodations (plus, they have free ice cream 24/7). And the grounds are to die for. A+++ for this venue!
The reception was really nice - super classy, super chill. One of my personal favorite moments was when I got to eat that cake....oh, that wonderful glorious chocolatey cake that was sent down straight from heaven. Props to Maxie B's - they are out of Greensboro.
Do I even have to say it? I. LOVE. THIS.
Following their reception, Kristy and Russ gave us about an hour to shoot a "Day After" session with them around the property of Graylyn. I have WAY too many favorites, so I have to dedicate a separate blog post for them....check back tomorrow! :)
