"Now, slow down a bit....cheyenne, walk SLOWER....you guys gotta slow down!"
On the evening of June 9th, 2007 Geoff and I were walking hand in hand around uptown Charlotte. And on this particular day, we looked GOOD...I mean REAL good. There's something about a wedding dress and a tuxedo that make a couple look and feel their hottest.
As many times as our photographer - Steve - told us to take it easy and to slow down as we strolled around as he snapped away trying to get the shot, we just couldn't!
Maybe we were nervous...maybe we were excited...I don't know, but we had issues doing what we were told. :)
On that day if you would have told me that not even a year later I would be shooting alongside Steve during a wedding, I would have told you that you were crazy.
Last Saturday I had the amazing opportunity to join Kristin and Steve of Kristin Vining Photography for a gorgeous uptown wedding as a third shooter. The ceremony of Anna and Mike was at the First United Methodist Church and the reception at Bentley's on 27. Enjoy!
I was obsessed with the flowers!
The hot pink flowers against those black bridesmaids dresses were stunning.
And here they are - just married - Anna and Mike!
The whole crew.
Bentley's!
Another obsession - the cake.
I am SO grateful to all of the established photographers who have been so giving of themselves to help up and comers like me. Kristin and Steve - you two are awesome - thanks so much for everything...I had SUCH a great time shooting with you all!

The Universe yet incomplete......
The Universe yet incomplete
On the sixth day God created her
WOMAN
And God said to her I shall give to you
A heart full of compassion
A spirit free to fly with the birds
A vessel to carry life into the world
Wisdom to know great truths
Courage to rise out of oppression
Gentleness to kiss the earth
Passion to set the world on fire
Vision to respect the earth that bore you
A playful nature to dance with the children
Laughter to fill the valleys
Tears to wash the pain away
Hands for laboring and loving
Intuition to know the unknown
Desire to be that which you were created to be
And God said to her
WOMAN
I have created you in my image and likeness and
YOU ARE GOOD

Ann - one of my supervisors during grad school at Western Illinois University gave me this poem when I was a first year. There are so many women in my life that come to mind when I reflect on this poem....one of those women is Kristina.
She is one of the most kind-hearted and sweetest people I know. She is only just out of high school and is already a strong, beautiful woman of God. Kristina is such a blessing to this world and to my life.
Even though Kristina graduating from high school last spring, she still wanted to have some senior pictures taken. Her shoot was fun! I met her and her mom in NODA, which is a really artsy area of Charlotte - lots of bright colors, cool walls, etc. Kristina's mom served as our "lookout" for creepy people while we were shooting, which was nice to have so I wasn't too distracted from my camera. I took SO many pictures - it was hard not too!

New! - Part One
Boy, it's been a long few days - it's no fun being sick! I started feeling bad last WEDNESDAY and am still not better. I've been religiously taking a mixture of different medicines and it seems like none are helping. Boo.
Here's part one of the exciting new developments in my business - my new and awesome logo designed by my fabulous husband. I'm LOVING it! Looks good, right?! We've been working hard at developing a brand - I feel great about where we have landed.
More to come - I should be announcing my next bit of excitement in less than a week...woo-hoo! Also, check back in a couple days for more fun blog posts - Kristina's senior portraits and headshots of a new wedding planner in Charlotte!
Have a great week everyone!

"Cheyenne, congrats on your new baby!"
"hi cheyenne! I was just calling to say congratulations on your new baby....I heard she was born yesterday weighing in at 5.4 pounds and is 15 inches wide!"
That was the voicemail I got from my friend Lauren this past Saturday evening. I was totally confused at first...."what is she talking about?", I asked myself, but then realized she was congratulating me on my most recent exciting photography related purchase - my beautiful and lovely MacBook Pro!
Let me tell you - it wasn't the easiest purchasing process of my life. It wasn't until the THIRD visit to the Apple store that we finally went through with it and walked out with the box filled with silvery goodness. I am not a computer gal by nature - I just wasn't wired in a way that I am able to understand all of the ins and outs of technology...so it was totally overwhelming and frustrating trying to pick out just what I needed/wanted. Anyone that knows me can tell you that I can get really emotional really quickly. During our second visit to Apple I actually had to go out in the middle of the mall so I wouldn't cry in front of the employees. Ha! It makes me laugh now, but at the time, it wasn't all that funny. The guy who was helping us just made me feel stupid.
Last Friday was our lucky day - we were hooked up with the wonderful and fabulous Apple genious - Alli. She was SUPER patient, helpful, knowledgeable and not at all pushy. I actually hugged her after we had the receipt in hand.
So, now begins the next frustrating and overwhelming process of actually learning to USE my new mac. Actually, I'm QUITE excited and can't wait to see the difference in my workflow.
Yay for my mac!
Alli!

Andrea - gettin' married!
There are words to describe how special I think this woman is. Andrea is such an inspiration to me and I am beyond blessed to have her in my life. She joined our Lifegroup a few months after the rest of us did - I can't imagine what it would be like without her.
Andrea and Aaron are getting married in late February - just a few short weeks from today! Their love story is amazing - a story I will never get tired of hearing. These two are a true testament to God's will.
A couple weeks back was her bridal shower, at which she allowed me to bring along my camera to snap a few shots. The shower was at Vinnie's Raw Bar on South Blvd. in Charlotte.
Another shot of the raw bar...
Wings and chicken strips - yum - my kind of shower!
I thought these were cute.
Beautiful Andrea.
I had some fun with these - I didn't have a macro lens, so I took my 50mm OFF the camera, flipped it around, held it in place on the camera, and moved the body until it was in focus. Pretty cool, huh?! And p.s. I'm obsessed with her engagement ring. :)
Congratulations Aaron and Andrea!!!
