Ashley and Jason - Married - The Landing on Shem Creek

Ashley and Jason? Love them. And, loved their Charleston wedding.

When we showed up to the Shem Creek Inn on August 15th, Jason had just woken up from a nap and Ashley was jumping around her room from excitement - yes, excitement because it was her wedding day, but also because she could see the dolphins swimming around from the deck. :)

The ceremony took place at the gorgeous Hampton Park and their reception at The Landing on Shem Creek. Truly, it was an ideal wedding to shoot - super nice couple, outside ceremony with no rain, great details, fun bridal party, etc. etc. etc. I have to say, I'm pretty excited about sharing this wedding on our blog. :)

To refresh your memory from when I blogged Ashley's Bridal Portraits, Jason's mom and Ashley co-designed and made her amazingly GORGEOUS dress.

The flowers were to die for - awesome work by Tim's Touch.

Ashley had warned me beforehand that she had a little trick up her sleeve for the ceremony.....she suspected Jason might shed a tear or two, so to make him smile....

I so love this.

Congratulations Ashley and Jason!!!! Best, best, BEST of wishes. :)

Unscripted

I've been known to be a bit of an emotional person. An avid crier at times. It's true.

It really was no surprise to Geoff two nights ago at Starbucks when I looked up at him from behind my laptop screen with tears in my eyes. He's seen me cry more times than I know to say.....although I don't know he's seen me cry from editing a wedding. From time to time he's caught me while shooting a wedding, but never editing. I just couldn't help myself. Not this time.

My stomach dropped when I came across this image that Geoff captured immediately following Ashley and Jason's recessional from their ceremony. You can't say that it's compositionally perfect or that it stands out as particularly original from other wedding day images that we, or others, have shot. But the sheer fact that it was a completely and totally raw account of what they were feeling in that moment...unscripted by us.....that gets me. It inspires me. I FEEL something from it.

Don't get me wrong - I'm all about having fun with some creative posing with our brides and grooms...but if you ask me - this image creates so much greater of a feeling than something contrived.

Be sure to check back on Monday to see a lot more of Ashley and Jason's Charleston wedding - I'm pretty excited about it. :)

Monica and Brent

I always get excited when "already married" people contact me about wanting to schedule a shoot. Monica and Brent have been married for 8 years....and can I just say....I hope Geoff and I are as in love at that point as Monica and Brent are. I always tell people before we start shooting that the more into each other/flirty/playful you can be, the better your pictures will turn out. Monica and Brent totally got this....and it shows. :)

These two are photographers (check them out HERE), so they had great ideas (and outfits!) for our time together. And when they asked if we could shoot inside the laundromat? YOU KNOW I was all about it. :)

Sadly, Geoff couldn't come out for their shoot, as he was battling the flu. Which means that the four of us need to get together for some dinner sometime soon!

Oh! Monica's hair and makeup? Done by none other than the fabulous Kymm of Who's the Fairest. :)

Dear Lord, PLEASE let me look like Monica's after I have two babies.
