We had just finished our Papa John's pizza for dinner and were sitting down to begin work on a photography project when we realized what Ellen had done - she had gotten ahold of 3 ibuprofen pills and had eaten them. And so began a long night of tears at the emergency vet hospital.
The doctor told us that because Ellen still had dinner in her stomach when she ate them and that they were able to get the pills out quick enough, she has it in her favor to be okay. However, they need to keep her in the hospital for three days to flush her out with fluids.
All day yesterday Ellen was driving me out of my mind as I was trying to get work done - barking in her high pitched bark at EVERYTHING under the sun. Today I'd give anything to have her here irritating me. If you pray, we'd sure appreciate you throw a quick one in today for Ellen's speedy recovery.
Here's a few pics of her we took about a month ago. I love these one's of her that show her ears flat back against her head.
Before our shoot with Crystal and Matt started, I told them that they might feel a little weird or awkward in front of the camera when we first start shooting, but that they would be like old pros by the end of it. Matt informed me that he was actually very comfortable in front of cameras as he was always having his picture taken by Crystal wherever they went. Perfect! And sure enough, they were naturals from the first couple of shots we took. :)
I am really excited to shoot their wedding - not only are Matt and Crystal a totally fun couple, but I'm looking forward to working with Charlotte wedding planner Alyse from A Perfect Engagement, who happens to be Crystal's best friend!

These two were up for anything - even when I asked them to jump up on the trampoline.
Last night I sat on my couch with a full belly (a treat out to Macaroni Grill for dinner with friends!) as I watched the end of the VMA's. Britney had just won her third award when I realized how disappointed I was. I was keeping my fingers crossed for a performance from her and when all we got was the same measly acceptance speech time and time again, I was not thrilled to say the least. And I've decided that I'm not a fan of Russell Brand - just my opinion - but I think he's a total moron. ANYWAY....
Moving past my disappointment in the show, I am SUPER excited. Today marks a VERY big day - Geoff is starting his new job.....with Elevation Church! He'll be doing all of their motion graphics - I know he's going to be super fabulous and can't wait to see all of the cool stuff he comes up with and the ways that God will work in our lives through this new step.
Even though his first official day wasn't until today, he worked this past week on a promo for the upcoming series that begins this coming Sunday - September 14th. It's a sex & relationship series called Visionary Love: Dream Sex. Scandalous! :) Anyway, the promo was shown yesterday in church and I gotta say - I was SO PROUD of Geoff as I watched it up on the big screen and I grew more and more excited as I heard everyone around me laughing as they watched. Check it out!
Congratulations, baby. I love you to pieces, you know? I truly think that you are INCREDIBLY talented and am beyond thrilled for you - have a great first day of work! Much love!
Earlier today I was sitting at my desk doing what I usually do during the daytimes - I was editing. Whenever I hear the little noise that signifies I have a new email, I get REALLY happy inside. I'm without a doubt 100% addicted to email - getting email is like getting presents....and as mentioned before...I love gifts. :)
When I heard the glorious little sound today, I excitedly clicked on over to find Lori's name in my inbox. I had just sent her the slideshow from her wedding day, so I was anxious to see what she thought. As I read through her email, I was beaming from ear to ear.
Cheyenne, I am just gushing with tears. I can’t stop. They are so real that they take me back to the day and the very moment. I don’t even know what to say or how to express my gratitude or how to tell you that you’ve brought to life one of the happiest and most beautiful days of our lives. I can’t wait for you to photograph our future dogs and babies, etc, etc. I emailed Tom and we pressed ‘play’ at the same time on the phone together – we were both silent the entire time. Tom said, ‘Wow, I don’t even know what to say to that, they are unbelievable – don’t you feel like you’re there again?

Man, I was doing a little dance in my desk chair after reading that. It seriously made my entire day. :)

Lori and Tom were married at the Inn on Mill Creek, which is a Bed and Breakfast in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Apparently it rained in the morning before we got there, which was perfect as it settled the dust on the road. It was definitely warm, but great weather for the day. The wedding was very quaint - seemed like the perfect number of guests for the location.
The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. Geoff and I need to get back there for a little weekend get away sometime soon.

We didn't have a whole lot of time for portraits of Lori, so we made do with what we could and grabbed a couple in her room. I love these of her.

Before they exchanged rings, they added a very special touch called the "warming of the rings". The wedding bands are passed around to all of the wedding guests to be blessed before they are put on the fingers of the bride and groom. I love it. Such a unique way to involve your wedding guests into the ceremony.
And they're married!
When we first got to the Inn, we ran into Tom's little nephew. He proudly told us that HE was going to hold the back of Ms. Lori's dress as she walked down and back up the aisle. It was PRECIOUS.
Isn't he super cute? You could just see it in his face how special he felt. :)

The cake topper was actually Tom's parents cake topper from their wedding - I just love it when special touches are added.

Ahhhhh....today was SUCH a great day! I love days like today - busy - go, go, go - running from one fun thing to the next frantically!
My day actually started out by sending out the slideshow I finished for my of my recent bride and groom's - Erika and Brad. Within minutes of emailing it to Erika, I heard back from her with this:
"Seriously, I am in tears. Thank you so much! I wish I could give you a hug! You are so talented!"
It truly makes my day when I see my clients so thrilled with their photography that we were able to provide for them. I just feel SO blessed that this is my job. I mean, I have THE best job in the world. I get to spend my time working with awesome people on one of the best days of their lives. And then, I get to provide something so special that the couple will cherish for the rest of their lives. I just feel such a sense of absolute PURPOSE doing what I do - and I just don't think it can get better than that.

After lunch I was able to meet up with one of my photog friend's - Amy Martin. I SERIOUSLY love this woman's work - and she's only been at it for a little over a year! Whoa!
Last spring I got an email in my inbox from the wonderful and talented photographer David Jay announcing his "Free to Succeed Tour" around the United States. I didn't even hesitate in signing up for his workshop in Charlotte. I have been looking forward to tonight for so long, as I knew I would walk out being better equipped to run my business and be a better photographer and person. And sure enough, he didn't disappoint. I am SOOOOO pumped up about what we are doing with Cheyenne Schultz Photography and the exciting things that are to come. PLUS, I got to spend some time with my new friends - Candice and Daniel from A Beautiful Mess! Thank you, David Jay and the Free to Succeed Crew!
Alright, so the day just kept getting better and better. I came home after the workshop to find an email from the women of Elizabeth Anne Designs who told me that Joy and Matt's wedding was featured on their blog as a "Real Wedding". I am super excited, as their blog is one of the best wedding planning blogs I've seen. Not only do they regularly feature "Real Weddings", which are a great source of inspiration, but they offer wedding planning tips, and even have a full library of vendors broken down by state....if you are planning a wedding, definitely go on over to check them out!
Busy weekend....lots of shooting going on! Here's a sneak peek at what's been going on with us the past few days.
It actually started on Thursday with Ginger and Dean's engagement shoot - Dean was such a sport.....he recently had knee surgery, so he was on crutches!
On Saturday I shot for Jeremy Igo at an awesome wedding.
And finally, Sunday Geoff and I shot the wedding of Reida and Brandon who are THE BEST.....seriously, these two CRACK ME UP....I love em'.
Anyway, that's all for now - sorry for the super short blog post, but I'm pretty tired and have a BUNCH of editing to do. Be on the lookout for Crystal and Matt's engagement session and Lori and Tom's wedding!
